the last couple days my coolant temps will rise up to as high as 239, then go down to a more normal range, say between 210 and 220 or so, which is still higher than has been. I have a becool lg capacity radiator and fan kit
and my tems were lower, often under 200.
this only happens on morning startup OR after the car has been sitting long enough to cool down
check underneath the front radiator for leaves or any debris such as bags that get in there. you should not be as those temps with your aftermarket cooling system
I'd consider the thermostat, since this is happening shortly after startup, when the 'stat is operating for the first time. Sounds like a sticky 'stat to me.
I also have a Be-Cool radiator, Stock fans, a 178 degree thermostat, fans are programed to come on at 185 for the small fan and 195 for the large fan. Yesterday it was 91 here and the operating temp was about 185 while driving and about 195 while stopped in traffic.
Your higher temp reading could be from a faulty thermostat, or your fans are not comming on at a low enough temp, or as was suggested, the air flow through the radiator could be blocked.
thanks for the replys, nothing blocking the way. maybe faulty tstat. can anyone put this fear to rest. "would these symptoms be consistant with head /gasket damage"
with the engine cool. I started it and put in a little less than 2 qts of water and later drove around and the temp never went above 187 and its over 90 deg out.:)
question...I recently had the TQ tube replaced do they drain the coolant to perform that ? Im thinking the Mech dodnt know i had a lg capacity radiator and didnt fill it enpogh
