Where: at the back of the intake manifold
How-to: remove the intake manifold, then swap out the sensor making sure that you use a new seal.
Tools: standard mechanic's tools, plus a fuel line disconnect tool commonly available at most big-name auto parts stores

Do you have the service manual for your car?

I take it you've never disconnected a fuel line before?
1) depressurize the fuel rails via the Schrader valve at the front-end of the driver-side rail (be sure to put some rags underneath to contain the initial spritz and catch the liquid)
2) put some rags underneath the fuel supply line
3) insert the fuel line disconnect tool, push in the spring-clips and remove the fuel supply line from the fuel rail assembly, being careful not to damage the o-rings
4) put a ziplock bag over the open end of the fuel rail...I usually put a few paper towels in also...and tape it up

That should cover disconnecting the fuel line...

The brake booster is on the firewall to the left of the engine...make sure you remove the vacuum line before you try and take the manifold off and out...

Has your intake ever been removed? How long has it been on the car? For peace of mind, i would go ahead and get new seals...they come in a set of 8. Check out some of the forum's supporting vendors such as GMPartsHouse for a good price on the kit...avoid purchasing from a stealership!!

You might also find this link to be useful:
http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=5

It will walk you through the steps needed to remove the intake manifold, swap our your MAP sensor, and reinstall...

I find it easier to disconnect the fuel supply as described in my previous post...however, the article is for swapping to a different intake...thus you would need to remove the injectors from the old and install on the new...obviously you can skip this if you are reinstalling your existing intake manifold.

Good luck!

You don't "have" to disconnect the fuel line to the fuel rail & injectors. You can just unbolt the 10mm bolts holding the rail to the intake, and lay the intact fuel rail on its side while you remove the intake manifold. I've done it that way on my '98 several times. (has 2 fuel hoses rather than a single hose)

Gently lift up on the fuel rail and all 8 injectors will pop out of the intake. Keep a shop rag handy incase any injector decides to come loose from the rail.

Indeed, you do not "have to" disconnect the fuel line...it is a personal preference based on the number of o-rings that could potentially get pinched and cause fuel spray...been there, done that on my 98 SVT Cobra...

Everyone has there own little tricks...which is why I like this forum so much! Always learn something when I stop in and read the latest posts!

Very true...and I must admit...one time I did get a leaky fuel injector after fuel rail re-installation...luckily I caught it in my garage before it could have developed into a major issue / fire or whatever.

So rather than disconnect the fuel line, you would rather increase your labor, and chance for error, but removing the fuel rail? Sorry, but it does not make any sense, considering the intake needs to be removed for this task.

It's easy either way...it's just less messy keeping the fuel rail in-tact. I wouldn't ever make the injector mistake again.
