Re: Installing Rotors....Help, I'm Stuck!!! (Mean Green 2000)
I just put the eradispeeds on my 98 abou 10 days ago, so i'll give this a try. the fold out you pictured is the emergency brake setup, you will notice that the rear rotors also have a hub inside which uses these brake shoes. . my rears wer stuck too, sorry i can't say that i had the e- brake off though. with a couple of light taps with a hammer and diengauging the e-brake they came right off
Re: Installing Rotors....Help, I'm Stuck!!! (Mean Green 2000)
I just finished the same project your doing....And yes my rear passenger rotor was a BEE-OOOTCH to get off....I ended up spraying WD-40 on the hub and in the holes where the threads are....Let it sit for a while, came back with a rubber mallet and finally got it off by hitting the rotor from the inside outwards...Took several good wallups to get it off....
For the e-brake...it looks like it just came off...no problem...just put back on...you may need to click the adjuster to decrease the radius of your e-brake...looks like it was a little tight...Good Luck..
Re: Installing Rotors....Help, I'm Stuck!!! (Mean Green 2000)
MeanGreen, as said before, its the parking brake shoe. When you pulled of the disc the shoe was hold be the drum and you pulled it out. Sometimes you can have a hard time in getting the disc of because the shoes hold the integrated drum very tight. Hammer it a few times, try to get it out without pulling one side to much, this will make it stuck. Move it in and out Millimeter by Millimeter . . . .again and again. Hammer again . . .
When I did my rears, I did not have the parking ;) brake shoes come off like that. Do you use the parking brake a lot??? Provided the parking brake was disengaged, the only thing I can think of is that there was a slight lip worn into the rotor that caught the shoes as you pulled the rotor off.
As far as the stuck rotor, both of mine were a bit rusted around the hub, and it took some persuasion to get them off. I used a short piece of 2x4 up against the back side of the rotor, and gave it a couple sharp taps with a hammer, and it popped right off.
ok...they're off and I'm set to install the new brackets for the larger sized rears.....but low and behold Baer is using a 12mm allen head socket bolt.....now tell me what garage mechanic MF has one of those F^(&*&% sockets lying around  :smash:
and neither do Lowes, Sears or Discount Auto Parts :mad :smash:
