Default Ideas for keeping chassis movable with engine out?

Can I strap the front of the torque tube to the chassis somehow? Any ideas?

I'm hip deep in the middle of rebuilding my father's Panoz. Tore into my Z06 to get it ready for the next race thinking it just needed a new cam and one or two lifters. Turns out way more metal went through my engine than I thought.

I want to yank the motor then put my car back in the drive-way under the cover (only have a two car) and get back to work on the Panoz while I have my short-block rebuilt.

Trying to think of ideas on how to pull the engine and then get the car back out in the driveway. No... pulling the engine out in the driveway to begin with isn't an option. I want to be able to get the car in the garage for the re-install so I want the chassis mobile.

Thanks,

Brian

Sounds like you left the TT/Trans/Diff still attached to the rear cradle. Just throw the front cradle back under it. Put some rope through the shifter hole and tie up the TT to a 2x4 and push away.

I haven't done anything yet... but yeah going to leave the rear driveline in place. Great idea on "hanging" it from the tunnel. The guys at Zips posted in another thread that it's perfectly find to let the torque tube rest on the trans tunnel as well.

As she currently sits...

Another thought is to put the tunnel plate back in with a couple bolts.

Good luck on this project B.

BTW: I bet the Panoz is going to be a blast with the LS1 in it. 100 more HP?

Actually it had a 347 stroker SBF making 370 rwhp that blew up and never ran right. Prior to that engine it had an older 302 that I spun too high and snapped the crank. I expected the 302 to eventually let go. The 347 was expensive and just an all around bad shop experience. Thus no more shops... I'm doing it all it's getting a stock LS1 with a carb manifold and opened up exhaust. Will probably make around 330 rwhp but it's only going to weigh 2500 lbs.

Bare chassis currently. Need to finish welding and get it to powdercoat. Didn't intend to have my car loose 2 lifters and take out the entire engine in the middle of this entire build.
