Default How to thread needed, shocks and sways.

I spent the last hour searching for a "How to" thread for changing shocks and sways with no luck (did find some other good info though!). Anyways, could someone point me to a thread that explains the procedure for changing out old shocks and sways for new? I ordered C6Z06 shocks and sways and will be getting rid of my F55 next weekend. BTW, I will have 2 or 3 good F55 shocks for sale soon after, 80k miles on them. Thanks!

Try the "sticky" listed at the top of the page for this section (DIY). I don't recall what all is in there, but it is extensive info.

sways are pretty incredibly easy. so easy that i doubt you'd find a how-to. get under car, remove bolts, end of story. endlinks are one of a torx set + wrench (97-01) or just 2 wrenches (02-04, or upgraded metal ones). its really so simple that there's no reason to write it up.

shocks are another story. there's some shock how-tos on the web, just not the forums. only fresh on my mind cus i just put on coilovers. heres a link:

no prob. also note that if you dont want to do the zip tie method (kind of a pain but it does work easily enough) you can remove the upper control arm. there are washers that shim the control arm, however, that affect the alignment.

if you're on a roll or doing it late like i was, a cheater tip to remember where the shims go is easy enough: the control arm will have made a square (no shim) or circular (shimmed) impact area on the frame.

It's not exactly a How To thread, but you can use our Johnny O'connell sway bar and shock install instructions. The shocks will install exactly the same.

Pfadt Race Engineering - Johnny O'Connell Stage 1 Shock Installation

The Sway bar installation will be slightly different since you do not have adjustable endlinks with your C6Z bars, but it will help with disassembly.

Johnny O'Connell - Stage 1 Sway Bar Installation Instructions

If you want to upgrade to a suspension package that's both easier to drive and will net better performance than the C6Z parts will definitely give our Johnny O'Connell bars a close look!
