I installed new tires on my 2000 vette and now one of the tire pressure monitors doesn't work.
I did the learn trick with a magnet and all four of the sensors trip the beep to confirm that the system sees the sensor but the right front wheel sensor displays xxx and the driver information center pops up service TPMS system.
I am going back to the tire store in a couple of days does anyone have any ideas? could the sensor have gone bad? or could it be something blocking the pressure sensor area?
Okay I suppose that the sensor is bad but if the battery were that far gone why could I go through the programming procedure and have the horn beep that it received the signal?
I have never seen the sensors up close and did not know if the pressure has a different port to measure the pressure.
maybe the shop damaged the sensor or could just be coincidence....my girlfriends 02 just had one sensor go bad this past year the rest are all OK so far....ya never know
Yes I drove it about 39 miles right after the new tires were installed and yesterday after I reset them again I drove is about 15 miles and this morning about 12 miles. still registering xxx.
So I don't know what is going on.
Just replaced all 4 on my 04 with new Schreider's replacements from Rock Auto, the shop that did it said they had to program a few times before it took. But, after they were programmed the readings came up and no longer had XXX for all tires.
Based on the age, the battery(s) in the sensors are probably shot. Some people do the conversion to the "later" sensor. I chose these for a second set of wheels I'm putting together (BBS LMs with Michelin PS2s in Zo6 sizes for a '99 FRC). These are OEM replacements at about 1/2 GM's cost: http://www.amazon.com/Schrader-28006.../dp/B002GYOQGC
Not "cheap" but WAY better than the General. FWIW.
