I have a fob problem. After about 3 to 4 weeks of driving my fob quits working. I have put in a new battery every time just in case.
That doesn't work so I retrain the fob (holding both Lock and unlock buttons in for 10 seconds) and all is well for awhile.
What is wrong?? Also, If I'm more than 3 feet from the car the fob won't work. I have to be right next to the car (2000 Coupe)
Antenna problem?

The first thing I would check is the car battery. If your battery isn't extremely healthy it will play hell with the electrical system on these cars. You can have it load tested for free at most large auto parts stores.
You've already replaced the battery in your fob so we can rule that out.
If your car battery checks out that pretty much leaves either an issue with your fob like a broken solder joint (which is not at all uncommon) or an issue with your RFA module. Do you have a second fob you can try?
First of all, thanks for the replies. I have a 1 year old battery in the car (the best one I could buy). I do have a 2nd fob (for the wife if she ever wants to drive the car. Maybe I'll try it and if it works reset it to be Fob #1. Then I'll dig into the fob that works intermittently and check for bad solder joints.
The 2000 fobs are very prone to exactly what you're seeing. If soldering doesn't fix it, you'll have to replace. There have been many, many posts on here about the fobs becoming more and more intermittent and eventually stop syncing to the car completely... If you can still find one, you'll likely pay around $70 for it. I would not buy used, you'll end up with the same problem.
I looked over the remote with a magnifying glass and everything looked OK. So...... I ordered a new remote from Forum sponsor Parts Taxi. Price including shipping was $82.00. Received the remote a few days later, matched it to my Vette and it works perfectly!!!! Can lock and unlock from 30 feet away.
Parts Taxi price was much lower than those selling on Ebay.
I believe I read that if the remotes are dormant for a certain period of time and over a certain number of feet away from the car they need to be retrained.

The cold solder joints are not usually noticable by eye.
