Ive got a 98 6 speed with a stock block and all the bolt ones. Im also running a vortech supercharger kit at 9lbs. I was thinking abouit doing a cam install. will i see good gains with just a cam install and using the stock heads. what is some good advice to get some more power out of ls1 engine.
A cam will help a lot, yes. It is not uncommon to see N/A cam only cars making mid 400s at the tire, so adjust those numbers accordingly for your boosted setup. It really just depends on how aggressive you want to go. You could make enough power to find the limit of the bottom end just turning the boost up.
Do a mild (high 220s) cam and get a smaller pulley. then go shopping for a forged bottom end, because it'll pop.

A cam will definitely net you more power. I would suggest calling Andy over at A&A and have him recommend a good cam to compliment your Vortech kit. He'll be able to speak to real world gains from that mod better than most.
Also, how much more power are you trying to make? With full bolt-ons and FI your car is already a beast so it might be good for you to decide where you want to go before you start getting there.
Cam only is an option, add some better flowing heads for more, upgraded blower etc. Not sure what supporting mods you've done to the drivetrain and motor but if you start adding too much more beyond where you already are you're going to have to start worrying about breaking things...
