Doing a 75mm 3 wire to 85mm 5 wire MAF mod. Does anyone know if there is any potential problem with moving the MAF farther away from the air intake and closer to the throttle body?

It will be fine with tuning. You will need it anyway. I want to do the same thing, but am more concerned with the wiring than I am with moving the MAF.

Bought a calibrated MAF from Pace and the wiring harness as well (connects both the 2 wies for IAT and the 3 for the MAF into one 5 wire connector at the MAF). Since the MAF is the same diameter as the TB it just makes sense since I would not have to buy a reducer at the air intake end and would flow straight through at the TB.

Why do you feel like you need a larger diameter MAF? Are you seeing your manifold pressure dipping into vacuum at wide open throttle?

The ported TB I have is just slightly smaller in opening than the 85mm MAF (less than 1/4") and the stock air bridge is much smaller at 78mm. I am replacing the 78mm air bridge with a larger one and the larger 85mm 2001+ MAF which has been calibrated to the tables in the 2000 PCM will be moved from the outlet of the filter to the inlet of the TB. Air flow consistency, better TB response and efficiency are all I am looking for. I recognize that HP gain, if any, will be minimal. BTW thanx for your suggestions on the injectors.

I wonder if the outside diameter of the MAF is larger... It must be right? I may have trouble with doing a larger diameter MAF with the K&N intake bridge.
Anyone know for sure?
