I posted the other day that the passenger side front seat had moved all the way forward uncommanded day before yesterday. The battery was dead this morning. I charged the battery during the day and the car starts.
The raise/lower/tilt/lumbar functions work. The forward/aft movement switch does nothing. Someone mentioned they had a problem similar to this involving water intrusion. Has anyone else had problems with uncommanded seat movement? Any idea what caused it? If anyone had this happen, was it indeed the switch or something more sinister, like the motor? I'm thinking if the up/down/tilt works the motor is okay or are there two or more motors in the seat?
I had to remove the seat bezel and disconnect the power seat switch rather than remove the seat because the seat is SO far forward and so close to the dash that I can't see the push pin that holds the seat track cover in place to remove it and gain access to the mounting nut.
Anyone have any ideas on what to do to get the track cover off short of destroying the cover? If I have to destroy the cover is there even a prayer a replacement is available?
I found a replacement switch for $129.00 (little boy is expensive!) and should have it in a few days, hope by Friday but not holding my breath.

Try tilting the seat back or just raising it, at least at the front. IOW, down all the way in the rear, and up all the way in front. See if that gives you enough room to get at the mounts.
Yes, there are 3 motors under the seat. The forward/rearward movement is done by one of these. IIRC, it's the one at the very front, right under the front edge of the seat.

The #$%^&*( seat is so far forward I can't get my fat head between the front of the seat and the dash. I have a borescope camera that may be a help.

You can always pull your switch and test it for continuity and/or resistance of course, but except for the switch and seat control module, unfortunatey there's not much else in the way electrical components available as a separate replacement item. Motors are not available individually, nor are individual motor control relays. If I were to have to pick a most likely candidate from switch or relay module module, I'd say the seat control module first.
As you've already got a switch on the way, hopefully it will prove to be the problem.
