I have the shaft disconnected at the upper u-joint. I have the kick panel and w/e that thing with the big white syrofoam piece on it is called. I have all 4 mounting bracket nuts off. I have all wires disconnected etc. Then I go to slide it out, and I get hung up on the telescoping thingy hanging off the lower RH side of the column. And no matter how I orient the dang thing, I can't work it past/over the crossbar.
Am I missing something or does thing have to come off?
And the damn thing would have to be on with external torx screws. The ONE set of sockets I don't have!

Yeah about that, I looked at the service manual before I did anything. And the section for removing the column says to refer to the section on removing the steering wheel. And all that covers is how to remove the wheel itself from the column. It says nothing on how to pull the column from the car in order to replace the position sensor.

Interesting ... I did try to rotate it, but it wouldn't go very far because of the telescoping motor at the base of column which kept hitting the sides of the tunnel. I ended up just taking both loose, and then everything slid out with no problem.
