Heater Core Failure
1) Orange Stickey Liquid under the passenger side of the car.
2) Soaked Passenger Carpet
3) Damp Drivers Carpet.
4) Pulled the carpet back by the BCM and saw liquid running down the inside of the foot well
I bypassed the heater core, that way testing if it was still leaking. I did take the BCM out immediately, open it up and make sure it was dry. I have checked the utters and the HVAC drain on the upper side of the firewall. I have not checked the 2 lowers.
Someone on here commented that they would recommend have the new heater core tested before it was installed. I figured why not use that idea to check the old one just to make sure. Pressure dropped rather quickly.
I have read pretty much every post in the forum about replacing the heater core. As per the repair manuel it seems a daunting task. I am not a total novice under the hood of a car but nervous of ripping out the entire dash of my C5. Still trying to decide if I'm up for the task. Are there any trustworthy Corvette mechanics in the Dallas area? just in case. Thanks and sorry for such a long post.
I've never seen a heater core failure on the C5; I've pulled dozens of dashs and stripped out the HVAC from a few cars, looks fun

Not only are you going to remove the heater core but you will also have to remove the AC evap. core.

I replaced mine in my 98 this last winter, the service manual sucks but will give you a general idea.
