Just replaced spark plugs/wires... possible problem?
Hey guys I just got done swapping my plugs and wires.. it was a breeze compared to my last car.. less than 3 hours. I'm no pro so for anyone that hasn't done it and is worried, its no problem just go slow and loosen the air hose... makes it 10x easier.
I used granatelli wires and ngk ir's btw.
My only concern is that the back wire on the drivers side is touching the metal air hose and it gets extremely hot.. But I dont really see a way to position it so it wont touch.
Wondering if its normal or should i try harder to reposition?

My insulators lay on my headers and they have never had issue but if it bugs you try to turn them in another direction on wrap that piece of pipe with some high heat insulation
I was able to make it so they dont touch.. not by much but its something.
The blue wires look awesome in the engine bay btw and the car seems to idle noticeable smoother. It already had some ngks in it but they looked shot and the stock wires were reused.
I have noticed that while the car idles better in park and seems to accelerate and even shift smoother, sometimes when I come to a stop at light it shakes a little bit and seems abnormal.
I plan on going to the local dealer to have the oil changed next weekend, should I maybe consider a throttlebody and maf cleaning?
I've changed the oil on every car I've owned but I watched a video on how to do an oil change and you have to get the back of the car up really high to get all the oil to drain and I'm just not set up to be able to properly support the front and THEN lift the back waaaay up too. I'd have to drop 400$ on jacks ramps ect to be able to do it so I figured for now I'd take it to the dealer.
I want to do it asap because the oil looks a bit on the dark side and its a little overfilled.
I also can't really find a good thread on cleaning the TB either.. only how to replace one. I have the right cloths and cleaners I just don't want to damage it because I dont have enough info.

It is very simple to remove and hard to damage. You should look up the throttle body bypass mod and do it first. This way you can do intake work and cleaning in the future without a coolant mess. The throttle is sealed by a seal, not a gasket, so it can be removed and installed over and over again. It is held by three bolts. With the intake ducting removed, just do the bypass, disconnect the sensors, and and remove the three bolts. Then you can clean the hell out of it and even inside the intake a little.
Sounds good.. Looks like I have alittle project for the rest of the weekend. Thanks guys
By the way, jacking up the rear is not necessary, ya it helps get the last little bit out, but it's not much. I do it because I have the needed jacks and stands, but it's not really needed.
Best thing I found out to use on these cars is a scissor jack. You can get them for a few bucks at a junk yard. I throw two in the front hook up the air compressor and voila front of the car is lifted. Same with the rear. Takes me about 5 minutes. Better the to 2x4's, ramps and a low profile jack which took 30-45 mins before.
Well maybe I'll give it a shot.. thanks for the advice.
Now... back to the idling problem.
It's gotten worse. every now and then when I come to a stop the engine pulses and vibrates/buzzes same as before just much more noticeable. Strange thing is I noticed if I press and release the brake once or twice times it goes away and idles just fine.
Can I go to autozone and have them check if any plugs/wires are bad? can that be done with a scan? I hope not I'd have to oder another set of plugs and wires...
If one of the plugs or wires was damaged/installed improperly wouldn't the car have idle problems when I started it up in the morn?? and have power loss or some other symptoms???

Could be a vacuum leak. Check the brake booster hose and make sure it is properly installed. Chances are it was removed or moved for access to the drivers rear plugs/wires.
Also, pertaining to your AIR hose and plug wire contact, you can bend the AIR hose out of the way.

Only thing I removed was the metal hose running to the exhaust manifold. I guess I could have knocked something loose on mistake.. I'll get back in there and look around..
Funny thing though, today I did alot of stop and go, got on it a couple of times (not even half throttle) and it seems to have gotten better if not almost totally stopped so idk... I did get gas from a valero on sunday, maybe i got some bad gas or something. I normally only go shell or mobil.

I was just trying to tie in together the rough idle and how it went away with the application of the brake. Guess you'll have to play it by ear and see if it comes back. Most spark related misfires are most noticeable under heavy load. Doesn't sound like you have that problem.

I really hope youre right about the spark plugs. I was extremely careful and patient during the swap. Though compared to my last car (Z - the engine from hell) it was actually enjoyable and almost relaxing so I wouldn't mind doing it again... except for the fact the those blue wires were pricey and I'm saving for LT headers.
