Recently I had a hard time getting the car in reverse and first, but then that went away. Now when I'm at a stop, clutch is depressed and I start to engage the clutch to move the gears are grinding. I tried this in 1-4 and they all did it. Once the car is moving it drives fine.
1. Any speculation on what this might be?
2. Do you have a referral for a good mechanic you've worked with in the Seattle area before and you trust?
3. If I need a tranny rebuild then I want to beef up my trans. I am running 485RWHP with a Lingenfelter supercharger setup.
The gears won't grind as you are releasing the clutch and then grab and start to work once the clutch is released. Unless that's not what you mean in that description??

Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated.
1. I would suspect clutch hydraulics and not the clutch if it's intermitten.
2. Sorry, can't help you there.
3. We can take care of the transmission rebuild and upgrade.
I agree with clutch and/or hydraulics. Do your self a favor... Pick up a turkey baster. Suck out the clutch res. Fill with fresh DOT 3 fluid. Cycle the clutch pedal 30 times. Repeat 4-5 times. See how it feels. How many miles are on the car?
If the above does nothing, there is one last grasp of hope before replacing the clutch. I have only seen this one time though... The pressure plate is adjustable, not a lot of people know this. The bottom portion of the bell-housing can be removed. The pressure plate has three little arms with springs around them in the middle. You can actually use a pry-bar and a hammer to adjust the pressure plate by hitting these arms. This will allow for full use of the clutch pedal movement.
If that fails, it's time to think about replacing the clutch.
