Default After trans mount install...

I just posted a thread on my Pfadt transmission mount install with a few pics. You can check it out in the General Discussion area.

But my one concern after this mod is; How does one know the rear alignment is still good after changing components and lowering/re-installing the sub frame?

The suspension setting aren't changed during that install, so you don't need to re-align. Have you experienced any added vibration/noise, since the brace install?

Yes slightly, I discussed it in the other thread. Only at Idle so far. It really is nothing like others made it out to be. Its hardly noticeable.

And I only ask because the sub frame and mounts all have very loose bolt holes that are more like bolt slots than bolt holes. Like all the parts are meant to be able to be moved around and adjusted.

To make sure everything sits right and is not under stress, I took the car for a drive around the block and some speed bumps before tightening everything down so it sits where it wants to naturally.

This is what concerned me about the alignment. Things have changed position... the control arms bolt to the sub frame, which has moved even if ever so slightly.

The TT kind of determines where the diff bolts thru the slotted cradle. The cradle raises into tapered holes, with tapered pins, so the squareness should remain the same, too.

Well I feel better about it then. I never heard about having to get an alignment after, but it just seemed to need one after what I saw. It will all be coming back out again soon anyway for a converter install. So i wouldn't have wasted the money one one just yet. Thanks for your help.

NukeC5,
You should be able to see the witness marks where the nuts were tightened/torqued
(before) on the cradle.

I dont think I would have driven around with it loose like that but the cradle should go back right where it came from. Also I noticed when I installed mine that the vibrations went away after I put some miles on it. I guess it had to break in.

Just a short drive witheverything in place just loose enough to let everything settle. I would not have done anything to let something bad happen.
I hope the vibrations go away, but like I said, barely noticable and not a bad trade off for the way it feels now.

Well I couldnt actually feel any vibrations through the car but I could hear them and the shifter would vibrate slightly. I would actually like to get some solid motor mounts to go along with it.

I plan to do the engine mounts too when i get to the engine build. For now the rear end is the big project. Got a complete torque tube kit and poly couplers, a new converter drive plate, a 3200 stall converter, C6 output gear and shafts, and new diff clutch springs all going in when I get the rest of the parts deliverd and time to do the install. Can't wait!

Yea Ill be waiting till I get some more power before I do it, but right now the plan is to sell this one and pick up a C5 Z to play with but who knows how that will turn out. I might end up keeping this one.
