Coolant temp xxx
Hi. Last night on the way in from a 400 mile trip I saw the temp guage peg to max. Of course I immediately pulled to the side and shut down. A little checking under the hood ... the car was not abnormally hot. I checked the coolant temp on DIC. Shows "Coolant temp xxx". Check oil temp and trans temp both normal and no "Check Guages" light or anything else abnormal. Anyway I came on the remaining 100 miles. No problems.
Any ideas what's going on? Any help and suggestions appreciated!

Check the wires going to the coolant temp sensor. It's on the driver side head behind the alternator next to the exhaust manifold. If the wires look good check the plug to make sure you're getting power.
