At first it was the inside RH brake light not working. Now both RH brake lights not working. When the brakes are activated the RH park lamps go out. The LH side responds normally. Also cruise control doesn't work when lights are on. Left turn signal not cancelling. Bill Curlee, I'd give you 24 cold ones if you can help me figure this one out.
At first i thought that too. But what would cause the right side to act differently than the left side? What part of the MFS is side specific except for the turn signals? Why are my running lights going out when the brake lights come on?(only on the right) Signals work fine except for the left not self-cancelling.
Maybe I should have mentioned this earlier, this is an export with all original export lighting.
Also, when tested with a multimeter, the sockets read exactly the same when tested for voltage when the running lights are on, brake lights are on, etc. All tests at the socket are using the socket ground. Does this even make sense?
After much head scratching and internet searching and service manual scouring, I finally figured it out. Since power comes from the same source to both sides, it had to be a ground issue.
I yanked on the ground wire coming out of the sockets while I had the brake pedal pushed down with a board, the lights flickered on. Replaced the sockets. My cruise even works properly now. What a relief.
