My 1st "Custom" mod for $30!
I painted my fuel rail covers this past weekend. I didn't know anything about paint and have only experimented a few times before this. I messed up 3 different times while I was trying to paint them silver with black letters and stripes on the bottom. The first screw up was when I had the final coat of paint (still wet) on and then dropped them when I was bringing them into the garage (foul language was flying at this point). 2nd screw up happened when I attempted to paint the word Corvette without removing the silver paint (had to repaint that part silver and gave up on the black letter idea). The last screw up was when I was sanding the silver paint off the stripes and scratched the main body. I ended up doing a half *** wetsand on the paint with 800 grit which gave it the look of metal and then cleared over it. I turned out way better than I imagined and I'm not sure I could do it again. The paint was metallic aluminum and the black was hand painted with universal black touch up paint.

Looks cool. Try this next time. Paint the black and then mask it off using tape and new sharp razer blades. The good single-edge sharp buggers that can easily trim up the tape. A decent auto body supply store should have some you could buy. Once masked, paint the silver and when it's done just peel the tape and clear and you're done.
