Default Exterior mirror question

The case on my passenger side exterior mirror needs to be replaced.

Unfortunately, I have the full zoot mirror with memory, heat and dimming, and a replacement isn't cheap.

Can I buy a less capable and expensive mirror and transplant the guts of mine into it?

TIA.

I'm 95% sure you can, but in order to remove the motor from your old mirror assembly i believe you're going to have to cut the wires, then splice them back together when you put the motor in the new housing. Everything else should be as simple as remove from old and swap to new.

Before you go to all the trouble, you might want to check with Marc@Vettenuts or Corvette Recycling and see what they might have in terms of a used mirror and what price they could sell it to you.

If you do decide to go with a less expensive mirror and swap out the components, please document what you do so others can have an idea what was involved.

I have picked one up from forum vendors/members that only needed my paint color for $60 shipped!

I have a memory mirror but it is torch red. The case is in very good condition but the mirror mounting surface (motor) has a broken mounting button which is repaired with JB weld. You could just cut your wires and use a crimper tool or solder the wires together and use your motor and my mirror and have it painted. I am selling it for $95 shipped in the US. The car/mirror has always been garaged. The brakeaway/swivel is also fine.
