2000 that I recently bought has headers but I done know how to tell what kind. Can you tell the difference looking at them thru the hood or does the car need to be on a lift? What should I look for?

Not sure if all manufacturers do it, but typically, you'll find the makers logo etched somewhere after the 4 pipes bend and angle towards the back. The only ones I've seen are towards the outside of the car (away from the motor) as well, but I suppose a maker could put it anywhere if they even used one. It's tight on the C5 so you'll just have to do a little detective work and see if you can discover a logo anywhere. Good luck. Report back if you find anything.
If you were able to get some pictures someone might be able to tell you as well and if you could get some pictures of the underside then you would get an answer pretty quick.
Are you looking for kind as in brand? Or kind as in Shorty or Long tube?
If the second, you can look down inside and see if the headers are bolted to the mid-pipe. Use a flashlight and look for any breaks in the system where bolts are used to hold it together. If this is the case, they are shorties. If the primaries (the individual pipes form the heads) are long and continue back out of site and you see no bolts or breaks in the system, you have long tubes.
