Well i know theres been acouple ppl on here wondering if there was any pics/videos on how to take the rear bumper cover off of a c5 Z06. But i havent found anything showing how todo this. The previous owner got some pretty good scratches on the bumper cover and trunk lid and i need to find out how to take it off so i can get it to my body guy. So if you can help that would be great thanks
See if this helps (attachment)they are attached in 4 places:
1. plastic push pins underneath above the exhaust pipes
2. bottom side small metal bolsters. I think the inner fender need to be removed. (easy too-6 or so screws, one in kinda hidden in a pocket)
3. side bolsters access after removing tailights.
4. top of fascia along the trunk seal.
Both the metal bolsters attach the fascia to the rear fenders.
It's really pretty easy. I replaced mine a few months back. The hardest part is getting to the stiffeners on the inside where the bumper cover bolts to the rear quarter. Just remove the tail lights and look in there with a flashlight. You will see what I mean. It took me about 30 minutes to take it off by myself without a service manual.
Yea ive got a hook up with a paint guy that will spray it if i take it off and do all the body work/sanding and polishing it!!! so i like thats a good deal around 400 for everything or is that to much???
Here are some pics of the scratches and the miss matched touch up paint the pass owner put on it......Sorry for so crappy of pics but u can kind of tell!!!!!
If you're having to do all the labor and the sanding and polishing and he's just shooting the color you're getting screwed...I took mine to my body guy and he sanded, shot color and polished it out for 200. All body shops are different. I guess the price depends on how good your relationship is with the shop.
