Default I can kick myself

I was trying to set top dead center by put the tip of a plastic pen in the spark plug hole, and then i heard a light noise. I pulled the pen out and saw the tip broken off. I threw both hands in the air and walked out of the garage.
Do I have to pull that head off just for that plastic tip.

Last time I checked, the only only two items permissible in the combustion chamber:

1) Air
2) Fuel

Fire it up, it'll burn up and go out the exhaust.

Whatever doesn't burn up (likely nothing left) will go out the exhaust valve and get caught in your catalytic converter, where it will burn the rest of the way.

If the pen still writes well (all tip parts still there) you should be safe in cranking it up.
