Default Head light issue

I know this is a common thread about issue's with headlights. My driver side is popping up when turning them off. The reason I'm asking for help is about a year ago I rebuilt the head light with new brass gear kit. Everything worked great for about a year. Just this past weekend it started again. When I checked the the motor and shaft I found the shaft had about 1/4" play. So instead of rebuilding again I spent $160.00and bought a new motor. The problem is it is still popping up. Has anybody come across that problem? The rubber bumpers still look ok.

I had mentioned that there was about 1/4" play in the shaft, that drives the linkage up an down. When I turned the lights on the linkage that moves the lights up and down must of went past the stops, because of the play in the shaft. I didn't realize it when I installed the new motor. After taking some time looking at it is when I saw the problem. I just changed the linkage position and everything is work fine.
