Default head/cam swap issue.

I have a 98 Vette M6, it had a .581/.588 cam from cam with 806 heads. I swapped my over to 243heads with texas-speed MS3 cam and oil pump and etc. I start up my car it idles just fine but when I go to drive it, i can press the clutch to coast to a stop and the car will stall.

It doesnt have a tune yet, as i have just finished the install. Could this be tune issue, or did i install something wrong.

All help is appreciated. thanks

Of course it's a tune issue. You changed the cam and heads.
The airflow requirements throught the rpm range are now different.
It isn't a self learning system, it's a "you teach it" system.

Tune. look into updating to the newer 2001up PCM

you can re-pin your harness to work with the newer PCM

An noted, 100% tune issue. I wouldn't worry at all until you get a tune. Whileas the newer computer is vastly superior, an experienced tuner can get your 98 rolling properly with your existing computer. If I ever had a 97-98 I would prefer a computer change as well, but it's not required.

Thanks, I am getting a tune this weekend, I was just wanting to make sure that's what it was and not that I installed something wrong.

Mine was worst, it wouldn't idle at all. Talk about a real hassle to drive. I wanted to have the motor go thru 3 heat cycles before it hit the dyno.

yeah it sucks, I'm probably going to have to trailer it to the shop to have it tuned because its about 1hr away and i will be going through a lot of traffic. and don't want to deal with it. I'm trying to break in the cam now. They say drive it about 100miles and you should be good, but I'm only at 8 so far lol.

If you have two feet it shouldn't be that bad. I was able to break mine in when it was running rough. I'd just hold the gas a little bit when I was braking.

It'll be fine to drive, but don't get too throttle-happy with it.
