Default Fuel mileage? ???

I have a 2002 coupe that is stock and I drive 45 highway miles per day to work and back and some in town driving in between. I have 50,000 mile on my car and assume it has the original spark plugs.

My question based on the small amount of info above is what should I expect for fuel mileage. I drive 68 most of the time and don't hot rod. Any suggestions to improve?

I average 25.5 on a long trip and 22 driving to work and locally.

Sounds about right. I average between 19 and 21 in my z06. Depends on how much lead I am packing in my right foot ;~)

Sounds about right--maybe a little low on the highway. Do you have 3.15 gears? The plugs/wires/O2 sensors should last 100K, but at 10+ years might be time to swap them out...

Fill out your profile.. What part of the country are you in?.. Are you driving through the mountains at 5500 feet elevation?? Sea Level and flat roads? Here in Dallas Texas at 450 feet above sea level and low humidity, I get around 30 mpg on my 2002 Z06 on the flat highway.. 17-18 mpg in the city.. This is normal driving.. My 1999 C5 Corvette did the same also. I see 13-14 mpg in the city and 23-25mpg on the highway with aggresive driving

If you have an auto tranny in the car, the highway mileage is about right (mine gets about the same). For a 6-speed car, the highway mileage could be a bit low. When combined with in-town driving, what you are seeing is perhaps pretty good, depending on how much in-town driving is thrown into the mix.

I have an '01 with the 6 speed, and whatever rear gear is standard with that set up. According to my DIC, my overall average is just under 20 MPG, and when on the "highway" at 60-65, my instantaneous MPG is between 29 and 31.

Thanks everyone for the replys!

My car is an automatic, but not sure what gears I have. I am turning 1900rpm @ 65mph.

I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't needing to change plugs and wires or something. The car runs great and I know they aren't supposed to be a economy car just want to get all the MPG I can!

I live in SW Kansas. I will get my rofile updated.
