Sounds to me like you've got a main power cable connection issue. Could be ground float due to a poor connection causing intermittent low current to ground, or it might be a corroded +12 somewhere doing the same but going low due to lack of conductivity. Start looking first at grounds and clean them up. Then see if you can find any corrosion anywhere on a hot and fix any of them you find. Iirc, there are 13 ground points on the C5. Get under and disconnect/reconnect all the lines going to the starter solenoid too. Obviously with the battery disconnected first.
