Ok so I'm new to corvettes and joined thus forum because I'm looking at purchasing a 2000 that has a ls3 motor swap and is stroked to a 418 with a ton of mods, first of all the car has not been Dyno tuned but just bench tuned! The problem the car has is while accelerating sometimes the car will go Into reduced engine power and the dash will light up like a Christmas tree! That's the sellers words, I test drove the car and went for a ride with seller we couldn't create the problem so I can't explain it perfectly. After numerous searches I couldn't get a real clear answer, I'm wondering can this be an expensive fix or something real serious? I hate buying a car with problems but it runs great other wise. The seller thinks vehicle has approx 600hp and the traction control system has a glitch because of the hp, Also it has an ls1 computer which idk if that matters or not. Sorry for long post and thanks in advance with any input!
Do NOT buy this car. It is obviously a poorly done and unfinished swap. It can be VERY expensive to troubleshoot and chase out all the bugs left by whoever has been under that hood. Just not worth the trouble.
There is no possible way it good be the common grounding issue? You say do not buy this car but this is the only problem and I'm actually trading my truck for the car and everything else seems solid actually it's a members old car from this forum! Thanks again and also how much is the electronic brake module? Is that the only possibility with it? It use to only do it with traction control on but now it does it periodically with traction control off!!!

If you don't know how to pull the codes using the dic you should find someone who knows these cars to help you. The problems you describe could be simple or or complex and expensive. If it happens to need a ebcm, well they are not available anywhere. The codes will give you an idea of whats going on. IMHO you don't know enough about Vettes to make this purchase on you own.
Honestly how do U learn a vehicle if you don't purchase one and work on them! I have owned numerous nice cars and trucks from Audi to Cadillac! I googled the ebcm and they come up for sale. It won't be a daily driver just somewhat of a toy and maybe some shows and cruises. Thanks again for the help.

The TCS system has nothing to do with the problem of the car shutting down with that code. It is in the tune of the car 100%. If you like the car and getting a good deal go for it and then get the car to a GOOD tuner that really knows what he is doing on the car... Robert
Thank you Robert that is what I was wondering and answer I was looking for. I didn't think the Tcs would put car into the reduce engine power!!! I plan on a good tuner and honestly the abs and Tcs is not something I care about anyway the car will only be driven on dry roads. It's just the damn lights on the dashboard
Kevin, fair questions but why don't you complete your profile? It would help all involved to know where you live so that good recommendations can be made. For example, it you live in the northeast, it would behoove you to visit COW (Corvettes of Westchester). Chuck is a top notch guy and tuner extraordinare. There are lots of other great tuners as well around the country, but we need to know where you're at. Thanks...

Like I said IMHO. Good Luck. A least check the codes.

I will check the codes for sure and plan a dyno. I'm near Syracuse ny and will update my profile soon!! He text me tonight and said when your driving the car hard it tends not to do it but when driving it normal it will do it more often. I will keep u posted! Just a confirmation the TCS CANt cause the reduce engine power? Thanks again!!
I live near syracuse ny as well. My vette throws that message sometimes as well, i turn the car off and restart it and it goes away. Id be willing to bet you have a bad ground somewhere. The car your speaking of isnt a magnetic red metallic vert is it?
No it's midnight blue from Rochester area! I have all winter to work on it so I will clean all the grounds and connections! Where exactly are you from?
