So we started the ls7 up today and it needs a tune. Well after running for a few minutes it started making a squeel that sounded like a belt squeel. We checked the belts and pulleys and it was not it. It only started about five minutes after cranking and it would only do it above 1500 rpms.
Here is a vid of startup. Yes there is blow-by it stopped bout ten minutes after running. The noise had not started yet on this video.
Well after the noise started and we were inspecting I pulled out the dipstick tube and it magically stopped. Reinserted and it started again. So we thought maybe the dipstick was hitting something maybe the crank(the block had to be drilled for a dipstick on the ls7. No signs of contact but no oil on the dipstick. Almost like it was cleaned off.
Well we cut the tip off the dipstick to see if it would work and it still did it. As long as the dipstick is out a half inch it does not do it. It is really weird and I am not sure what to think. Any ideas???
Actually, you need metered air, after the MAF sensor, but before the throttle plate. Typically, this air is plumbed into the RHS valve cover. GM has done this about eight different ways with the LS series over the years, so your particular hardware will dictate what will work on this specific engine.
I assume it will be. It is at my friends house so I will not know until morning. Thank you guys so much for the help. I am taking it to the dyno tomorrow for tuning.
Well rerouted pcv and it stopped. Finally got it to idle yesterday. Still needs a tune though. Not showing any knock going down the road (scaled injectors and a few little things with hp tuners).
Steve, it may have just been moisture. Whatever it was it did it the first few minutes and hasnt done it since. I will post another video of it idleing here in a sec.
