I have a 97 c5. I have been trying to synchronize my keyless entry fob to my car, I go in to options scroll through to blank page and then hold reset button for 3 sec I get message "tire learning " then "learn L tire " nothing about keyless entry what am I doing wrong ?
Normally you simply turn the key on--- Press and hold the "unlock and lock"buttons at the same time--Hold them both down until you hear it chime like 3 times---should be set--
Also on older cars if you can't get the fob to work the small battery in the fob could be dead--try replacing it---Eventually the fob just quits ( mine did) on my 98--I just lve with it

This method will only synchronize already programmed fobs rolling frequency, and it doesn't chime, it chirps the horn. It won't program fobs to your car. You must use the procedure you described to do that. It sounds like the keyless part has been tuned out of your options, but this is beyond my knowledge. Hopefully someone who is familiar with how the option is detected will help here. When you get to the point you describe, you should see a message to "program first fob".
interested in this myself also, I just got a newer style(of the 2 kinds that exist for C5 OEM) for cheap on flebay....I'll need to do this when is comes in because mine in a 99

When I say receiver I mean the receiver in the car not the key fob
The newer style fobs won't program to the 97-2000 receiver. You must have the same style fobs, tpms, and receiver for them to program. If you have a 2000 or older receiver, you MUST have the old style (more expensive) fobs and tpms, or change all three to the newer style.

Not 99-02, they don't overlap. It's 97-2000 for the early style (the 2000 year doesn't have the passive siwitch, but will still work) and 2001-04 is the newer style.

Apologies your correct the non passive one is the one I purchased for 01-04, sorry lacking sleep
so if this one really came off a 2000 model ( it doesn't have the passive switch), it could work with my 99?
Sorry for thread jack, I am just thinking this is useful information for everyone
