I just found out that the Z06 I bought 2 weeks ago had a "programmer" installed at the dealership when it was new. It's stored away until Spring but I was wondering if there was any way I could tell ? I'm planning on calling the local dealership that delivered the car but you know how they are with forwarding info, especially when it's of a performance nature.
And the car is 10 years old....
The previous owner may have loaded a tune form a hand held unit such as a superchip, hypertech, diablo etc. If the unit is no longer with the car and you want to find out what the settings are, I recommend taking it to a high quality tuner and have the parameters checked out. If it runs fine maybe don't worry about it. But if you just cant stand the wondering, you could just go in for a check, or even get a real dyno tune and experience better benefits!
Asmemtioned the real only way to tell if ANY non stock programming was done is with a full tuner like EFILIVE or HP---They can run an "alternate tune comparison" program that will compare your installed tune to a similarly VIN'd STOCK TUNE---
Most owners who sell cars want to brag about their mods to give the car more value--He seems a little vague on the programming details--He would know exactly which tuner he used--of course !!!!
The only thing I can imagine a "dealer" doing on tuning would be a "tire size correction" to re-calibrate the speedo ----Does the car have NON stock tire sizes ???
Thanks for the replies..........the car is 100% stock.
And the 2nd owner told me the 1st owner told him about the "Programmer".
I'll just have to wait until Spring I guess...
