interior lighting issue??
I had to pull my passenger door and replace it, I noticed the day I pulled the door the foot-well lights stopped turning on when opening the passenger door, at the time i was thinking cool because I needed the door open for a long period of time anyways fitting new parts & what not & assumed its because I had something in the door unplugged i.e. the plug for the lock/ latch...anyways everything is back assembled now and the lights still only function via the driver door, popping the hatch or using the gauge ****,
Everything else functions on the new door, window, speakers, lock, mirror, i still have the door panel off the fine tune the new glass, but the door switch is plugged in and lights up......
my question to all of this is how does a C5 recognize an open door?
I noticed no typical door pin switch on the pillar to the front so figured it had to be latch related, but with my harness I have three plugs on the harness side, only one plugs into the actual lock, I cant remember what the other two plugs are for or if this plays any relevance, the only change i know of is my old door had a key hole(1999), the new door must be newer as the handle does not have a key hole, so i kept that and the latch, everything else is from the 99 door
i had that issue on my driver's door when i first bought it. (mine's a 2000). mine was due to one of the plugs not being fully seated in the latch mechanism. i don't know what each of them is for, but you might check that all the pins are fully locked into each connector, none of them are bent, and that the connectors are fully seated together.
I'm still trying to figure out how i acquired an extra green & black end, If i recall they are both square and so is the one I have plugged to it now( 3 total), I can always take pictures- its just easier to type this up while im at work
sorry. i'm pretty sure some of the wiring gurus like Mr Bill have the door schematics posted somewhere
Have a safe holiday
