I am in the process of rebuilding the torque tube on my 02 Z06, and I ordered a new set of coupler bolts from my dealer. They are the correct size (12mm), but they have a T55 head on them instead of the T45P (Torx Plus). Does anyone know if GM changed them? The larger bit is going to make it more difficult to install (and later remove), as it is impossible to get at the bolts straight on from the torque tube side, especially on the output end.

Thanks.
I have no idea but you can PM Steve Doten to see if he's come across this.
I opened up all of the packages of the bolts I ordered and what do you know - 2 different size heads, even though they are all the same part number - 88894027. I have 9 of the T55 headed bolts and 3 of the T45P headed bolts. There are the following differences in the packaging:
T55 Headed M12 bolts:
"License Plate" number UN753030568S1028723
"Shipment Date" 21JUN2010
So now I am assuming that they made a change sometime after Jun of 2010 and there are warehouses with old and new inventory. Since they are all the same part number, it's a crapshoot as to what you will get. These all have Unidrive Pty Ltd on the packaging and were bought through a dealer.
Guess I will order 5 more and hope I eventually end up with a matched set. I don't want to risk any balance issues.
Just wanted to pass this information on to anyone else going through a torque tube rebuild.
