Car: 2004 coupe with dual automatic climate control system.
DIC codes: none
Heat: can get heat from the center, driver side and defrost vents.
NO HEAT: passenger side vents - just get cold air. Since it has been down to 17 degrees of cold Michigan air, it doesn't get very warm in the car with only half of the heating system working.
Solution: I sure would be grateful if anyone has a solution for my problem. I couldn't find anything in the shop manual that covers this problem.
It sure sounds like an actuator issue, even though no codes show up. You might try one of the procedures for resetting the actuators and see if it helps. Bill Curlee has a great write up on how to do this.
Seems that you understand that C5s are an all season/all weather car. Since Goodyear stopped making run flat snow tires for the C5, I switched to Blizzak tires. Except for the lack of run flat capability, they are a much better tire in the snow.
To be quite honest, I am a pretty old driver (first car was a 1954 Hudson), so at times I regress to old "fix the Hudson" methods. These are not found in service manuals but were a pretty good method for quick repair on old cars. To stop this old timer stuff and cut to the chase - I hit the top of the dash a couple of times. Probably didn't solve the problem but it did get the heat to work on the passenger side. I will see how long this old geezer solution works before I do Bill's serious repairs.
