My car is a 02 Z06. Stock GM replacement rotors (front) stock calipers and EBC red pads. Russell brake lines front and rear, DOT4 fluid. I don't track or auto x the car. I just need something with a great intial bite, no concerns for noise and I'm not worried about dust either. Its main use is for driving back and forth to work and more time spent in Mexico. After my outing to an airfield event in Oct I realized that the current set up wasn't cutting it when trying to haul this sucker down from 170mph in less than 1,500ft. I had lots of time in between runs so the pads couldn't get up to temp, hence why I need something with great intial bite when cold, but also something that will hold up to repeated 170-180 to 60 mph runs when in Mexico.
So do I just need to upgrade the rotors and some bad *** pads?
I have the stock rotors with DRM ss pistons, and Carbotech XP12/10 combo on mine. When I did the Daytona track day last year, every lap was a 170-180 to 65 braking and a 160ish to 75 braking zone. That was every 2:15 seconds for 30 min. Work pretty well.
