Default C6 Air Cleaner In C5

Does anyone know if a later model C6 air cleaner housing will fit (bolt on) in a C5? I'd like to have the benefits of better air flow without using an oiled filter.

The mounting pins are not the same.

Why would you expect a C6 OEM type air box to provide any more air flow than a C5 Z06 air box, which would be a direct fit?

Thanks. Good question. Actually, after doing some math, you are absolutely correct.

Not meaning to highjack the thread, but does that C5 Z06 unit improve the air flow characteristics enough to make this swap worthwhile?

Now that I look at it, no, probably not. Only about a 7% increase in filter area.

I run a C6Z06 intake in my C5. Fits just fine and makes a big difference, trust me I logged the cfm's vs rpms. The air bridge is much bigger and wider. I would convert to a card style maf for the biggest gains.

Your response still didn't answer my original question to the OP in post #2 Steve.

You get a good look at it in this video especially around the 0:40 mark. I'll try to post pics tomorrow.

Come on Steve, that's not a real answer. Newer doesn't always mean better.

I'm talking about seeing some comparative CFM flows for the two air boxes in this discussion.

Other than gravity, how is it secured so it doesn't bounce around?

Its not secured to the rad cover like stock but it doesnt move either. The silicone coupler is pretty thick so that helps and with the hood down there isnt much room for it to bounce around.

Very old thread but i might have an answer here. I'm swapping the stock intake manifold and throttle body in my C5 Z06 for an LS2 TB matched with a ported Fast 92 Intake. After this, i will still have my stock LS6 air bridge / cleaner / duct / CAI. I just found out that it is possible to fit the C6 air cleaner into the C5 but i'm worried about the PCV hose that is supposed to go back into the intake. If i was going to keep the stock C5 air bridge, i would just drill a hole anywhere between the MAF and the TB. But if i go the C6 air bridge route, the MAF is very close to the TB leaving possibly no room for this PCV hose.

Same problem if i choose a Callaway Honker intake. I'd like to stick to any of this two options to keep great the engine bay looks.

My '99 already had the '01-07 descreened 85mm MAF with adapter harness and the '01-04 Callaway Honker installed, so when I had TPIS modify the LS6 intake manifold with a 90mm snout and I installed the '05-08 silver blade 90mm throttle body, I just used the '05-07 C6 LS2 factory rear bellows intake tubing and PVC inlet tubing. Plus it gives it that stock factory look and most folks don't even notice the changes. Details here;

Just in case someone in the future needs a more solid approach on this topic, i succesfully installed a C6 air cleaner in a C6 keeping very stock-like looks. I had a Fast92 intake installed with an LS2 throttle body with the nice C6 air cleaner and bellows. The valve cover vent is connected as well to the fitting in the bellows and i even drilled a hole in the side of the cleaner to install a fitting for the A.I.R. hose which i like to keep working. It receives unfiltered air but still is there doing its job. The filter i'm using is AEM. I also bought new pins and drilled a couple of holes to install them on the radiator shroud to keep the cleaner held in place. The cleaner i had was from a base C6 so it had the helmholtz resonator which i wanted to keep but i found no way to fit the whole setup with that so it had to go and the hole was covered. There are no clearance issues with the hood. This is how it looks:
