My friend (not mechanically inclined) has a 98 convertible w/ auto and every time he washes the car (no not the engine) the car goes in what he calls "limp mode" Twice he has paid the dealership and it was attrbuted to corroded terminals (where?). I asked him to show me a work order and he didn't have it. Well not much to go on here guys but if you have any advice please let me know and I'll forward.
H ithere,
Possibly connections at the PCM, located under the battery.
I would suggest that there was a battery leakage condition, and it corroded the terminals down there, so when water intrusion occurs, he is getting this issue.
I would thoroughly inspect all wiring and terminals at the PCM.
