SHIFT CABLE ON A4 IS BROKEN / NEED HELP
The end of my shift cable is broken right under the shifter . Has anyone change one out yet ??? It looks like a bear , help is needed in procedure . Thanks in advance

The shifter cable design allows almost no angular movement before it cracks! I broke the cable when I removed the shifter and I was careful as the shop book warned. I used a small mirror with a light to see the shift cable and cleaned the cracked area with alcohol then applied GOOP adhesive with long wooden Q-tips around the cracked area in two applications with a day in between to dry; this resulted in a very thick patch. The rubber bellows might have to be moved to see the cracked plastic area. This fix has held up well for over a year and the angular movement is far greater now since the GOOPed joint will flex. I developed a gated shifter which required removal of the cable end many times and I'm glad I didn't replace the cable since it would have cracked again.
