Default Drivers window doesn't work

Just this morning the drivers window will not work. I hear a faint"click", but nothing happens when i push the button. I replaced the cable assembly a few months ago, so that should not be the problem.
Any idea what is the most probable cause?

the clicking is the relay in the door. this is a common problem. my passenger side is bad. there is a lot of info on here for this. just use the search. might be the motor. some guys bang on the door panel and it will work again or push down on the edge of the window while holding the window to go down. i think new motors are about $100 or so.

As woodvette03 says, it is a common problem. I think the passenger window is the usual suspect, as most people blame inactivity as the main cause for failure.

My passenger window quit working on me a few weeks ago. Following the advice of members on this forum I watched the video (see below) and ordered a window regulator/motor. The OEM is expensive (around $400+ I think) and I've been told that the $100 ones from China are not reliable. I bought an AC Delco from upanddownmainstreet.com for $200 including shipping.

I removed the passenger door panel, and hit the lump in the door, where the motor is bolted, with a hammer as instructed in the video. (I had to hit it several times quite hard) The window has worked ever since.

For some the hammer isn't a permanent cure, for others it is. I have a window regulator/motor unit sitting in its box in the garage in case my cure is temporary.

Thanks for the input.
It is good to know about the different types of replacement parts too.
I replaced the cable assembly with an aftermarket replacement and it lasted 1 year.
I have some british cars so i understand the big hammer approach!!

check your battery voltage 1st. If it is getting low, gremlins like this will pop up(window was broke for a month before voltage drained out).

If it is fine, then it is time to move on to the hammer test and then full replacement if needed.
