My oil level sensor has been acting up, throwing low oil level warnings when I know the level is fine. It would come right back not long after I cleared the DIC. So I guess I will replace it when I change the oil next time. No one local carries this part, at least not for a 2004. What is the correct part number? Do all ls1/ls6 vettes use the same sensor 97-04? Will I need any gaskets or grommets for the swap? Thanks
Damn. So if I check everything, clean everything, and heat shield everything, it might still be a bad sensor and I'll have to wait until the next oil change to swap it.
To be honest, I don't know if in the past few years I've ever read of someones sensor going bad, but from my experince with my car, thats what I thought at first as it would randomly go on and off. I cleaned the area and have not seen it come on since, going on two years. Good luck, let us know how it turns out for you.
I replaced mine with part # 12603782. This is for an '01 LS1, if you have an LS1 in your '04 it should be the same. I got mine from the local dealership - they had it in stock - I believe the price was about $18.
