I also have a 98 and I suggest you take a look at this link. EBCM are a problem for C5 guys but this link gives us some hope. Chuck has a GREAT reputation here on the forum. Call him first and talk with him about the headache.

I have the 1255 code for a long time now, but the abs still works fine.
Be sure to Excercise it occassionally with a hard ABS activating stop, as it can get dried out and malfunction from non use over time.
I do few an ABS activated stops in a row once a week to keep all the internals working properly.
