Default IPC display problems - buttons not working -

The IPC will display "Corvette by Chervrolet" "Door Ajar" "Reserve Fuel" , etc but the buttons do not work at all. The display will show the odometer reading unless a warning message is displayed. I have changed the switch pod and it did not make a difference. What is my next move ? Can you get a replacement display, and if so, do you have to program in the correct mileage for the odometer ?

None of the buttons work? How are you seeing the odometer without pressing "reset" when you have a message displayed? Make sure all the connections are tight. Could be a bad IPC if the switch and connections test good.

I have the exact same problem. It only shows odometer reading, now shows change oil now. How did you resolve the problem. Was it hard to remove the instrument panel?

My options button isn't working but i managed to pull the codes and one was related to it. I'm not sure on the exact code but it was a ground short to the options button. I highly doubt that all your buttons have that short but i would check all the grounds related to the buttons and clean them if necessary.

I know this is a really old thread, but I'm having a similar problem with my Options button (not responding at all). Haven't pulled the codes yet. Will do that this weekend. How did you fix your grounding problem? I did just have the IP out last weekend to change out the HUD.

Nope. I had problems with the passenger window not wanting to roll up and it was caused by the ground wire not properly grounding at the frame. For other electric problems I didn't find a solution. If anyone knows a good electric magician in SoCal please post their business info here so I can run my car over to them for work.

I have worked on several DIC "buttons do not work" issues. Unless it is something simple like the connection between the IPC and DIC switch came loose (never seen that) then in every case an IPC replacement fixed the issue. Not uncommon for the motherboard in the IPC to have issues. It also contains the mileage/odometer history and that would need to be reset by someone.

I have the IPC removal guidance link at home if anyone needs it.

The codes would come up and then everything stopped working on the DIC. Poking around for a loose connection discovered that wigggling the dianostic port caused a change on the DIC. Pushed OPTION ect. , ran codes and everything is back.

Is there anyway to check the IPC? Not getting any codes. Pulled the bezel out tonight and check the connections on the buttons. Looks good there. Didn't have a chance to pull the whole IPC out. Was thinking about changing out the button assy as a couple of lights are out as well, but reading multiple post, it doesn't seem like the buttons often fail?

If you are just having an issue with one button then it is most likely the DIC switch is bad and not the IPC,

Please create a Thread for your issue. Too difficult to resolve different issues in one Thread.
