Situation A: I have 2002 c5 A4. When I go full open throttle the car struggles to shift and almost "hangs" at max rpms, then hard shifts to the next gear. Is this programming from the previous owner(just bought car a week ago), torque converter, or transmission needing a rebuild/upgrade?
Situation B: I want to attack the suspension on the car first. What suspension parts are considered common for c5's and how do I asses if the more affordable ones will be enough or if I need more expensive/professional ones? Is there a difference in materials? My research has identified front and rear sway bars, sport style springs. Am I missing some other important suspension componenets?
In case anyone needs to understand my logic, I want to first focus on the efficency of the power transfer from engine to wheels. So I will be upgrading the trans internals, and upgrading the suspension first. The idea is to loss as little as possible in the transmission and from wheel spin.
either a reprogramming or a busted shift solenoid. i screwed with my shiftpoints and i had it wanting to hang in rpm's hitting the rev limiter before shifting, and that was just my fault and something you can easily tune out.
if you're wanting to keep it on the ground for a straight line, look at trans braces, sway bars, and engine mounts.
Is there a way, for little to no money, to tell if the programming has been set for higher shift points? How can I check shift solenoid? Is it difficult to DIY?
The goal with suspension is less fish trailing on acceleration and better handling on corners.
Thank u for the info thus far.

not really. i mean other than the obvious with it doing what you say its doing now.
i was heavily dismayed with how a stock c5 handled. get sway bars first, before you do anything, and throw the run flats as far as you can. after you do that, it really does start to feel like a sports car instead of a 4 wheeled snowmobile.
