Hey guys if I take off the upper radiator hose to re-install my abs module is there anything I need to do other than just put it back on when done. Do I have to bleed off any air pockets or anything like you do on a BMW??
Yes, you will need to burp the air out of the system. Here is the shop manual procedure that works most of the time but not always:
Start w/ a cold engine
Remove rad. cap
Idle for 1 minute
Install cap
Cycle RPM from idle to 3000 until coolant reaches 210F
Shut off engine
Remove cap
Start engine
Idle for 1 minute
Install cap
Cycle RPM from idle to 3000 until coolant reaches 210F
Shut off engine
Remove cap
Top off
Often need to repeat this procedure to get all the air out.
If for some reason you cannot get all the air out here is a link to a thread that describes another procedure that has never failed to work for me:
Thanks for your help, after reading all that I think I will do my best to install the abs module without taking hose off.....that will be last resort!!!
Thanks again!!

I thought the 01 was the same ABS set up as my '03. If you are replacing the EBCM, you don't need to remove the upper radiator hose to replace it. I found it more important to have a long torx head screw driver than anything else.

You are correct but getting it off the hose kept being annoying so I considered taking it off!!!
Just pulling the upper rad hose shouldn't let any air get into the engine unless you drain the rad empty.
Thanks, I may get aggrevated and pull the hose and hopefully not get an airpocket!! I almost ruined my wifes BMW engine when I replaced the hose and didnt use the built in bleeder valve to get out air pocket. Of course wife doesnt check the temp until motor starts pinging like crazy!!!!
