Has anyone installed the Xtreme Motorsport gas/deal pedals. I guess I use the pin/spring in the oem gas pedal. How do I get this part out?
The aftermarket dead pedal has four screws (not self tapping). Do I take the oem dead pedal out and then mount the new pedal to the old? Does the new pedal completely replace the old? Do I drill into the oem while it's still in the car and then attach the new one?
I installed mine about a year ago. Going from memory:
Gas pedal - You reuse the spring from the stock plastic pedal. The new pedal should have come with a new screw pin.
Dead pedal - remove the stock plastic assembly. Position the new aluminum dead pedal over the top and mark the 2 screw holes. Drill the 2 holes in the stock plastic housing. Use the screws provided with the pedal to mount the new aluminum dead pedal over the top of the stock plastic.
Hope this helps! Good luck on the install...they look really  when installed.
Are your pedals from Xtreme and not Breathless. Mine dead pedal has 4 screws (which should be no problem) but my gas pedal came with nothing. Mike from Xtreme told me to use the pin and spring on the back of the stock pedal. This is fine but how do I contort myself to reach it?
Mine are from Xtreme and you need to use the original pin and spring from the gas pedal. The easiest way to do it is put a small mirror on the floorboard behind the gas pedal so you can see the way it comes apart and goes back together. It is still a little tricky but aleast you'll be able to see what you are doing. The Xtreme pedals are a perfect match to the stock brake and clutch pedals and look really nice. Too bad GM cut corners and used plastic. Good Luck.
JWD, this is one rare case where it wasn't done to cut corners - in an interview years ago, a GM engineer said it was an intentional decision to use rubber on the gas pedal to reduce the risk of slippage.
Sam Lin, I appreciate the info and I won't dispute that an engineer gave that as a reason for using cheap materials but I would have to call :bs
because the plastic/rubber pedal is alot slicker than the rough cast aluminum. :yesnod:
Got the gas pedal on :D  Now the dead pedal. It looks like it bolted into the firewall and floor one bolt each. Is this right and the only item I have to loosen to take it off?

Simple. Pushed the pin in from the console side toward the driver door until I couldn't push any further. The head of the pin was now away from the pedal lever. I took a short, wide flat head screwdriver an inserted it in the gap now under the head of the pin twisting the screwdriver against the lever until the pin was out enough for me to pull with my fingers.
I have yet to post any pics on the forum. After I get the dead pedal in I will try to post a pic (have to figure out how to do that).
Why GM didn't include these in the first place is beyond me. They look  and like they should be there.
