Car is '02Z with 70k mi. Had to repl high pressure line due to leak. Took it to ac place to recharge. They say the button on the module will not engage compressor. Tech was able to start compressor and verify charge with TechII unit. I saw nothing in search for this proboem other than to check air temp sensor. Is there anything else to check? I will see if any codes when I pick up car tonite.
I thought I read somewhere that the button flashes on the control when it needs a recharge maybe they thought that was something wrong but to awnser your question yes it's electronic so it can fail
Did you check fuses ?

I agree with Jrockk... Also check the AC relay under the hood. My AC compressor wasn't clicking on at all when I got the car. After some checking and testing I figured out that someone had installed the relay backwards. Flipped it around and it fixed the problem.
There is a pressure switch on one of the AC lines that could be bad. If it doesn't indicate the lines are charged then the controller won't engage the compressor.

I thought all the relays were designed to be installed either way you put them in. I checked for this when I first started replacing some relays that were "brown" discolored. I am sure what you did fixed your problem but did you actually verify it can be installed incorrectly?
Have not pulled a 5 pin relay yet. Poor human factors design to make an interface like that. Would have thought the interface would not allow insertion incorrectly. When I realized the 4 pin relays could go in either way, I gave the GM engineers credit. I should have reserved that thought.
Well, I have had the car back for 2 days now and everything is working fine for now. Freon hasn't even leaked out . . . . . yet. Hopefully, just a one time thing.
