Default Hotrocker check it out.

Anybody have any experience with this product. Seems like a neat idea. Im not sure if there is enough room under the hood for the shift motor though. I ve got a call in to find out more. http://www.hotrocker.com/index.html

It looks workable but 20hp for $1000 is steep. A cheaper design from the past had two adjustable springs in the cam sprocket so the timing would advance as engine speed increased and it cost $50.

Interesting, but I think I will wait for electric valve technology to develop :yesnod:

Thanks Shawn that looks really interesting. I would like to get around the 1 cam fits all idea. Looks like a little while before we can get some kind of full authority digital control. I like the hotrocker idea it makes since. I appreciate your input I had not seen this electronic control before. I deal with airplane engines and we just dance around throwing chicken bones adn drinking blood to Bob Marley music to make more power  Its unfortunate and a waist of HP to be stuck by a fixed cam. :smash: :)

From their animation, it looks silly to me. One more "add on" to go wrong. Wait for totally electronically controlled "camless valves." Then you'll have something! :yesnod:

I don't get the point. It is changing the rocker ratio, in effect changing the lift. I don't think there's a situation where low lift is helpful, though, except that stock engines have weak valve springs that don't allow high lift. You might as well leave it at high-lift mode all the time, since you need stout valve springs to allow high lift even temporarily.

I think variable LSA, like in GMs new two-cam-in-block V8 is a better idea. It's clear that high-LSA helps improve the idle, and low-LSA helps improve power.

Here's a neat idea that I mentioned on this forum before: http://www.howstuffworks.com/camshaft3.htm

It's a 3d cam lobe, that Ferrari uses. The cam is slid in and out longitudinally, so that the lifters ride along a different path (different cross section of the 3D surface), to produce different duration, lift, and LSA.

Electro-pneumatic valve actuation will definately be cooler, though, assuming it can match the valve speeds and lift of a hydraulic roller camshaft.

Thanks Miles good link thats what I was really looking for was some more useful info and ideas and opinions on variable valve timing. I appreciate the link. I still like Hotrockers idea. Its on track and innovative, a using what you have to the best of your ability kinda thing. I have never cared for the cant be done theory. Kudos to anybody who understands enough to think on there own and willing to try. If you dont have something positive to say then why say anything at all? I love these and :bs posts. The I cant handle the concept so it must be inconceivable attitude. Thats the same folks that think one assinine air intake is that much different than another and couldnt build there own if their life depended on it. Now theres some real :bs
