Default 10 Second N/A Daily Driver

Hey all,

Mike Tiedemann is the owner of this beautiful 2003 Z06. He is also the owner of MCP Competition Engines who has built motors for some of the fastest Vettes that have hit the strip and street. MCP is also located in house here at the shop. Mike will admit that his driving skills are not on the level of Ranger, GARY2004Z06 or Robz; however, his head porting and engine building capabilities are second to none. With his limited track experience, Mike was able to knock out a 10.97@126mph pass the first time out with absolutely NO WEIGHT REDUCTION and just mounting a set of drag radials. This very mild H/C setup produces excellent power without sacrificing any driveability. This setup has awesome street manners with just a slight twitch at idle hinting at the power under the hood. The Vette drives like a stock car and cruising around is silent just like stock. Both Mike and his wife enjoy driving the car, he says after teaching his wife to drive a stick twice in a cobalt he put her into the Vette which she drove flawlessly. If you would like to see this car and have a setup like this, please give us a call.

Attached is an idle clip of the car and a breakdown of the mods,

For those types of numbers, it must be near 500rwhp.

Actually, you do not need near those numbers to run in the tens. It's about the right setup and power under the curve.

I am just guessing based on my 419rwhp getting me 11.5s. I don't run a fully optimized drag car though.

A few years ago I dyno'd 414 on tunetimes dyno and went 10.76 in decent air @ MIR.

Mike's car was not setup for the track either. I can tell you that with decent weather conditions a C6Z can go 10s with just DRs. That is with making RWHP in the 460 range. As stated earlier, power under the curve is the biggest factor. He is a great head porter and the cam works well within the proper range.

This car actually put down 410 to the tire on our Mustang dyno.

I've seen those guys run. The extra torque and area under the curve give them a big advantage. As I said, just extrapolating from my numbers. If you guys are pumping out more tq with a flatter curve, that is great and it will make a faster car.

Mike built my motor as well and I love it. Tune Time tuned it and hit 460whp on their stingy dyno. Been about 3 years and no issues. I don't really drag often, and I suck at launching, but always wondered what my car would run in the proper hands.

We have a few track rentals throughout the year, and I'm sure we can get you setup. Gary and RobZ are always extremely helpful at the track and are usually found in the pits helping other drivers learn their cars. Just let me know and I will keep you in the loop about our next rental.

That's the truth from what I hear lol.

and I may take you up on the offer sooner or later at a rental. Although I'll be honest and say I'm scared of snapping something. Although I don't have drag radials and that's the first major step in faster times lol

Better to start off on a bias ply slick such as an ET Street. More forgiving, easier to launch, and a lessened chance of breakage. We took an older gentleman who would cut 2.2s and got him down to a 1.57 in one rental. (half a dozen passes or so) He could not be happier. Talk to Matt about the possibility of borrowing some tires at the shop if you would like to try it. Note: Bias ply tires require a skinny up front for stability. We have those too.
