I want All Season tires. Wearing out summer tires (and I have "used up Michelin PS2 A/S )by driving in temps under 50 degrees is something I will do. With that in mind, are any of the following better than the others?
General G MAX AS-03 666*
Continental ExtremeContact DWS 812*
Micxhelin PS A/S Plus 1076*
* indicates pricing for stock size tires from Discount Tire Direct
Appreciate your opinions. TIA
I am on my second set of AS-03s. Only downside I have noticed with them is that the carcass is a bit on the softer side, so they will squirm under aggressive driving and have slower feedback. Also, the rears like to wear the center out (even at 30psi). I also attribute that to the compliant carcass. The get noisy as they wear down, but I think that's normal for most tires. I got about 40k out of my last set, and I was hardly kind to them. I expect to do even better with the ones I have now. You may also consider the BF Goodrich AS. Also comes in stock C5 sizes, and not a lot more than the AS-03. I have no experience with them though.
note: I keep a set of summer tires for autocross and the like. I use the AS-03s daily year-round.
edit: one other note: I like the symmetrical/ directional nature of the AS-03 over the DWS because I have a bit of camber on the car, and I can flip and rotate the tires side-to-side to extend their life. Would work the same for the BFG or Michelins.
