Default Gutting the Pups

I want to gut the Pre-Cats on my 2001 coupe. Can I do this while the car is on a set of ramps?

Yes; all you need do is unbolt the H pipe assy and slide it out from underneath the car.

It's tight underneath, so I had my fronts on my 10" ramps, and the rear tires on 4" risers made otu of 4x4's.

If you haven't yet, look here for details:

It would be much easier if you were on a lift. I removed my 2 cats from my 2000 Black Bitch Coupe and used a pair of O2 Simms ($89). Lost bottom torque and gained top end "pull"............. :yesnod:

So, if you gut the pups you have to use O2 eliminators??

No, I will only be gutting the pre-cats. The main cats will remain on and functional.

Take care not to plug up the main cats with debris - thus countering what you are trying to accomplish.

Wet the catalyst and insulation with a hose before chiseling. I used a shop vac output connected to the muffler end to blow particles away from the main cats. Use a respriator, particularly if you use forced air.

FYI - I later removed my main cats. Big mistake - only 2-3 hp on a 425RWHP vehicle, lots of smell, and lots of resonance.

C5 Tweaker, I also had the cats removed at one time. My better half didn't like the smell so I put them back in. Thanks for the info.
