Default Brake/Rotor review

I have been looking at the FS section for Rotors and Pads for my 2003 Anniversary Convertible. Prices are all over the map!

There is a big post for Brakemotive Rotors and Pads. It looks like they are getting a lot of orders but I don't see any feedback on them from Forum members?

Their price for a full set drilled and slotted with Ceramic pads is around
$200.00. Another vendor has a similar set for $550.00. That is a bid difference!

The rotors are made in China but these days, what is not. The higher priced ones were Centric but I could not find out where they are made on their web site.

Brakemotive is also on Ebay.

Has anyone out there used these that can give some feedback?

I've had them on my 2000 coupe for about a year and approximately 6,000 miles. No problems and no complaints so far. Installation was easy and they arrived promptly after I placed my order.

I haven't read anything bad about the Brakemotive ones, but then any negative comments are pretty much just one PM away from being removed if a vendor so chooses.....

I will be putting a Brakemotive set on my car for this season.

rotors really do not matter. centric, raybestos etc. find a decent brand at a decent deal. should be able to get a set of rotors for $150

pads are where it's at and there are quite a few choices

the delco durastop are rumored to be the same as the raybestos advanced tech ceramic. either would be a go-to for a low dust pad

imo the best street pad for the c5 is the stoptech street performance pad. it has better initial bite than a hawk hps and heat/fade resistance similar to the hp+ without the squeel. on top of all that the stoptech street pads cost less.

if you look these up at tire rack and notice they rate the hps as having better performance....well..use google. more than a few threads from guys at the wrx forum, bmw forum and 350z forum have done back to back tests and every one of them says what i just did. the stoptech is the superior pad to the hps

You shouldn't have a problem with them. I've run their solid rotors at track events and for the price they were durable. For street use you should have zero problems.

I have purchased 4 sets of those rotors from Brakemotive now. For my 98 C5, Wifes 03 mustang, 04 Rx8 and recently put them on my 03 Z06. They are a fantastic rotor that works good, looks good and holds up very well. Also the pads that they include are quiet and produce virtually no dust. Buy from them with confidence

Default Brakemotive

I've read nearly every page of that Brakemotive post and was wondering the same thing as the OP...there just didn't seem to be anyone commenting after their initial purchase regarding quality. Glad to hear others are happy.

My stock units ('04 C5 Coupe), rust after a hard rain or car wash, and look like hell. It wears away very soon after driving, but I'd hate seeing it.

The Brakemotive ones are zinc plated, but any comments from owners regarding the occassional rust on the face of the rotor where the pad makes contact?

I'm also battling a pulsating braking feel and a "whoop" noise that gets faster as the car does. I'm guessing my stockers are warped.

I'm thinking new slotted only with a zinc coating (or cryo?), but at a reasonable budget, like under $300 for the full set.

Anyone else use the Callahan brand I see on Ebay...never heard of them myself except from the movie Tommy Boy

Unless you want to spend $10K+ on carbon ceramic rotors, there is nothing you can do about the rust on the fire paths of the rotors, just drive the car and they'll clean off the first time you apply the brakes.
I'm a happy brakemotive customer.

Bought PowerTech drilled and slotted front and back K1560 base product.
$320+tax. from Amazon. Great price. 2003 coupe.

Look to be good quality, no issues yet. Very little dust, not even sure if it is pad dust or just road dust.
